Shields in Baldur's Gate 3 are easy ways for characters with the necessary proficiency to increase their Armour Class without having to invest in more powerful armor. Some of them come with special effects that elevate them above the rest. The Adamantine Shield is one of the best shields in the first chapter and retains its value much into the later half of the game as well. Players can get their hands on it as early as level 5, but more realistically by level 6.
